Open Ember

Message your students

Ember keeps a private message thread between you and each student on your roster. Use it for feedback, reminders, encouragement, and quick questions, all kept in one place rather than scattered across email and texts.

Send a message

  1. Open a student from your roster, or open Messages.
  2. Type your note in the thread and send it.
  3. The student sees it on their side and can reply.

Each thread is private to you and that one student. Messages stay attached to the thread, so the history of your conversation is always there.

Your inbox

The Messages inbox lists one thread per student, with unread counts so you can see who has replied and who is waiting on you. The roster overview also surfaces unread counts, so messages you owe a reply to do not slip through.

Read receipts and replies

When a student reads your message, the thread reflects it, and the same works in reverse. You can react to a message with an emoji for a quick acknowledgement without sending a full reply.

You can edit or delete a message you sent. If you paste a link, Ember shows a small preview so the student knows where it leads before they tap it.

Messages and feedback work together

For feedback tied to specific work, grade the assignment and leave a note there (see create and grade assignments). Use the message thread for everything else: scheduling, encouragement, and general guidance.
