Set up your microphone

Some tools listen to your sound. The Tuner checks your pitch. The Tone Meter checks your tone. For these to work, Ember needs your microphone.

Turn on the microphone

1. Open the Tools drawer.
2. Choose the Tuner or the Tone Meter.
3. The first time, your browser asks to use the mic. Choose Allow.
4. Play a note. You should see the meter move.

If the meter does not move

• Make sure you allowed the mic. Look for a small mic icon in your browser bar and set it to Allow, then reload the page.
• Play a bit louder, and a bit closer to the mic.
• Close other apps that may be using the mic, like a video call.

Headphones help

Wear headphones when you play along with music. Then the mic hears only your horn, not the sound from Ember. Your readings will be more true.
